4.7 - CD-ROM Template
Introduction:
This Template is to be used for all data CD-ROM and
DVD-ROM records.
When adding new record use the following values:
Format = MRDF
Entries Template = FULL
a) GMD - Replace [electronic resource] with one of
the following, depending on item format:
[CD-ROM]
[DVD-ROM]
b) 024 tag - Add the product barcode found on the
back of the item. Scan barcode, or key
in numbers, do not include dashes or
spaces.
c) 028 tag – Add the publisher number which is
usually found on the spine or on the disc surface but may be on the back of the
case as well. Type in the number as it appears on the item – include dashes and
spaces.
d) Title Control Number MUST be automatic/system
generated. Do not include a 500 tag for the 024 OR 028 tags OR change the title
control number from the system generated number for the product barcodes or
publisher numbers.
e) 245 tag – n and p subfields to be added if
necessary by individual libraries.
f) 336/337/338 tags - Content, Media and Carrier
Type tags are validated fields. Select the appropriate entry from the
field/subfield entries provided.

g) Make a new bib record when there is a new version
of the CD-ROM (eg Version 2.3) and when the CD-ROM is designed for a PC or Mac.
Do not create a new bib record when the system requirements differ.
