2.1 - Global Configuration
Introduction
Global Configurations are settings which are system-wide and control some of the functionality and displays of various LMS modules (Circulation, Cataloguing, Acquisitions, etc.). These configurations apply to all users of the system.
“Policy” in this document refers to LMS configuration Policies, which control the functionality of the Library Management System.
Policies are generally defined as either Global Policies and Local Policies.
2.1.1 – Global Configuration
A number of functions and settings of the LMS have a single “global” configuration, which apply to all users of the system.
Global Configurations include areas such as search fields, the display of User Information, and the control of some functions in Circulation, Acquisitions and Cataloguing.
Any changes to Global Configuration settings must be agreed to by all member Library Services. From time to time enhancements to the software may result in the creation of new Global Configurations, which will be decided upon by the Consortium.
Other Global Settings
Other software products complimentary to the LMS itself, such as Discovery Layers, Business Intelligence/Analytics tools, etc., which may be shared by members of the Consortium, may also require Global Configuration settings.
