2.2 - Local Policies
Introduction
Local Policies are “owned” by particular Library Services, and may be changed and managed by that Library according to their needs. No Local Policy should conflict with any Global Policy, or adversely impact on any other Library on the LMS platform.
2.2.1 – Local Policy Examples
Policies and configurations “owned” by specific Library Services within the consortium include, but are not restricted to, the following:
- Library branch
- Circulation rules, including loan periods, fine rates, etc.
- User/Borrower profiles/types
- Customised Policy lists
- OPAC, Mobile App (Sirsi Dynix) and Discovery Layer profiles/interfaces
- Holding Codes
- Default Price policies
- Some Location/Collection codes
2.2.2 – Policy Naming Conventions
Each member Library Service is assigned a two-letter and a four-letter Policy Code, used to designate their service.
Any Local Policy owned by a Library is prefixed by their two letter code. The only exception to this rule is the individual Library Branch Policies, where the policy name must correspond with the full name of the branch (for example “CRANBOURNE’, a library branch of the Casey-Cardinia Library Corporation- CCLC - group).
The four-letter code is used to refer to the Library Group itself. Throughout this document, Library Services may be referred to by their Library Group code policy.
