5.1 - General Principles
Introduction:
Each library service within the shared LMS may develop their own circulation rules in accordance with their local operational and governance structures, so long as those rules do not adversely affect other member libraries. Patrons who borrow directly from a given library do so in accordance with that library’s circulation rules.
Each library service may determine their own local circulation rules, including loan periods, loan limits and fees, so long as they do not adversely impact on any other library.
Any collection available for loan must be made available to all Shared Services libraries for holds, unless agreed to by the User Group as a non-holdable collection (see topic 5.3).
The default Hold Range is GROUP. Libraries must only place SYSTEM range holds if they do not own a local copy for loan (see topic 5.4).
