Item Categories

Libraries Victoria make use of 8 Item Category levels:

Item Cat 1 - Genre
Item Cat 2 - Age Level/Audience
Item Cat 3 - Item Format
Item Cat 4 - Language
Item Cat 5 - Collection
Item Cat 6 - Programs
Item Cat 7 - Inclusion/Accessibility
Item Cat 8 - Source

While all Item Categories are "optional", libraries are encouraged to make use of at least categories 1 through to 4. Item Categories are a valuable tool for statistical analysis of the library's collections and use.
